SEO
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it "ranks," the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.
The acronym "SEO" can also refer to "search engine optimizers," a term adopted by an industry of consultants who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients, and by employees who perform SEO services in-house. Search engine optimizers may offer SEO as a stand-alone service or as a part of a broader marketing campaign. Because effective SEO may require changes to the HTML source code of a site, SEO tactics may be incorporated into web site development and design. The term "search engine friendly" may be used to describe web site designs, menus, content management systems and shopping carts that are easy to optimize.
How to use seo
Start with the city as a keyword, as anyone searching locally will surely include it. If it is not a large or well-known town, include the state, province or country.
Include a keyword or two in the business name. Many people want a creative name to look cool, but adding simple, well-known words increases search traffic. You may only need to change the name informally for the website.
Determine a target audience. Figure out the demographic that the business/product caters to and determine the type of keywords they will relate the product to.
Go with quality over popularity. You want to attract people who are serious about your business, not just generate as many hits as possible. Think of keywords that serious customers would think of.
Use your surroundings to your advantage. If any major landmarks, businesses or points of interest are nearby, try them as keywords by pointing out the proximity.
See that your business name is as high in the alphabet as possible. You can often appear higher in search results the closer you are to the letter "A"--and starting with a number can help too.
